Composition as Speculative Practice and as an Education of the Senses
Liza Lim, presenter
Lim’s contact with Australian Aboriginal ritual culture in the mid-2000s resulted in a number of compositions including ‘Invisibility’ for solo ‘cello and ‘Pearl, Ochre, Hair String’ for orchestra. She will discuss an Indigenous aesthetics of ‘shimmer’ in relation to these works and how experiences of transcultural exchange have informed her thinking about composition as a speculative practice and as an education of the senses.
